Barter Exchange Can Increase Your Business
Barter exchange really can help to increase your business, so don't think of it as a slight income loss. After all, it is called barter exchange because you do get something in return for the services you give away. When you are considering using barter exchange to meet new customers and build new business, start by reflecting on what you really need. When you trade services or products you will be happy with the deal if you get something that you really can use, or something you want.
Once you have identified services or goods you would really feel good about bartering for, then decide what it is that you are willing to give, and how much it is worth. For the trade to feel fair you have to have value for value equally traded on both sides. Once you have this balance, the deal will make you feel comfortable.
It's not unusual nowadays to be approached by those who want to use barter exchange as a commodity in doing business with you, particularly if you're in a service business. If potential customers do not show up at your doorstep, you must go out and find them. That's when the networking starts.
Do not hesitate to speak with other entrepreneurs about the feasibility and desirability of bartering with them. They could refuse, but you have nothing to lose. They will have gotten to know about your merchandise and/or services. If you are turned down by someone you'd like to barter with, be certain you give that individual your business card anyway, along with a card or brochure describing your offerings.
The perfect opportunity to introduce someone to your services and products is when you find someone that is willing to trade with you. Care for their business the same as you would a paying client. Make sure that you give them the best you have to offer in order for them to spread the word, seeing that they are happy with what was given to them.
Be sure to provide bartering buddies with a lot of cards and info about you, your products, and your services that they can pass along to their clients. You may also wish to give a small discount to their referrals. Be sure you remember the golden rule about getting referrals, which is to give referrals; if you're happy with what you get during the barter exchange, tell everyone you know.
