Let’s talk about SEO aka Search Engine Optimization.
For the most part most webmasters get stuck when it comes to optimizing their site for search engines becoming frustrated and confused about the whole process.
What is SEO?
Basically it is the art of designing your web pages to achieve optimal search engine results. With out SEO you can pretty much count out getting any natural traffic from search engines, which mean spending a lot more money on PPC and paid traffic techniques. Fortunately SEO is not as hard as it seems and can be learn by jus about any one. Here are few examples to help you on your way in SEO.
Open one of your pages in an html editor and find the < title> tag < /tag>.
The title tag is one of the most important pieces of SEO.
Compare your title tag to the one below. Does it look the same? Or does it just have the title in there like most websites?
< title> Keyword phrase, Keyword phrase, Keyword phrase, your sites title< /title>
This will provide keyword rich text for search engine and help internet surfers find you a bit easier.
If you don’t see any keywords or keyword phrases it would be a good idea to add some. I generally take out the comma’s and use individual keywords as it seems to give me the best combinations of keyword phrases.
While not as important as they once were they are still an important piece of the puzzle.
Just below the title tag you should see some Meta tags that look like this.
< META name=”Keywords” content=”Keyword keyword keyword keyword keyword keyword keyword”>
< META name=”Description” content=”Put a keyword rich description of your site here”>
< META name=”Robots” content=”INDEX,FOLLOW”>
The Robot tag will tell a search engine if it is allowed or not allowed to crawl a specific page. The above example allows search engines to crawl at will, if you want to stop a search engine from crawling a page simply change the FOLLOW TO NOFOLLOW
If you don’t have meta tags just copy and paste these directly below your title tag and then change the keywords and descriptions to your keywords and site description. Make sure your site description is keyword rich.
