Do the search engines know you?
So many people make the mistake of building a quality website with great content and then just sit and wait for the traffic to pour in. Unfortunately the traffic never comes frustrating most and causing some people to give up completely thinking they have built a bad website. The fact is they just didn’t know how to let the public know they existed.
Let’s look at a couple of simple things we can do to get some publicity and raise public awareness.
Search engine submission:
Search engine submission is probably the first thing that needs to happen so that the search engines know you exist and crawl your site. When submitting to search engines more is definitely better, so we need to reach as many as possible. There are 2 ways to submit to search engines.
Self Submission:
This is the way most people will try first as it is free to submit to search engines. The problem with self submission is that it is extremely time consuming, and often your submissions will take months before ever being ranked. In most cases your submission never gets ranked. Self promotion is a website with some great information about Self promotion.
Paid Submission:
Paid submission can be an expensive venture especially if you don’t do your homework and research the company you are planning on using. Take some time and research the submission company thoroughly before jumping into anything. Check for scam reports and forums about the company you plan to use. A simple Google search with the word scam can be very revealing, for example: search “Website name scam” and see what pops up. I have found
Wpromote to be an affordable and reputable search engine submission site. Check out some of the testimonials on the Wpromote website.
